Happy Valentine’s Day!
Yesterday I came home to these from my parentals
Yup, those are penguin cake pops. Penguins + sweets = 2 of my favorite things (see, that kind of math I can do).
I guess you can say they know me pretty well
My other present of the day is……….the arrival of my brothers!!! They’ll be visiting until Monday morning and I am so so excited.
Their first flight was delayed and I started to get nervous that they would miss their connection, so they took that as an opportunity to mess with me and pretend they wouldn’t be able to make it to the gate in time. It was one of those times where I was pretty sure they were joking, but I was still so nervous they weren’t.
Luckily they were and the convo ended like this…
Aren’t they just SOOOOOOOO funny? This has been my life and their entertainment for the past 24 years.
Minus the debauchery that is bound to happen when the three of us are together, we are also going to be somewhat productive by running the UT California 10/20 race – 10 miles, 20 live bands. Not too shabby.
Although what is shabby is the fact that I will be crawling up the hills due to the lack of hill training in my life. Good thing there’s a beer garden at the end to motivate me……and hopefully burritos on the way home
Speaking of ending a run with burritos, I got to do that yesterday! I split my 8 mile run into 2 parts — 4 miles in the morning, 4 in the evening. This is the first time I’ve split a run up like this, but from what I hear, you still get the same benefits as a full 8 mile run?
So, the 4 in the morning were once again….rough. Still felt like I was stuck in my funk and I couldn’t get out of my head. At one point some old Navy guy was shadowing me and forced me to run much quicker than I wanted to for a while. Needless to say I was left in a bad mood when he passed me by with ease after 10 minutes and I was left panting at mile 1.8.
BUT the 4 miles in the evening were SO much better! I met up with my Thursday night running bud, Emily and we ran around the embarcadero
It’s amazing how much running with a friend can distract you from what your body is doing. I don’t think I ever fully realized I was running — it just felt like we were hanging out.
And then it was burrito time.
Hope you all have a great weekend full of burritos, running and fun!
Do you have any siblings? Older? Younger?
racing running a race this weekend?
