Hi!!!! Sorry for the lack of posting this week, I promise I wasn’t trying to give you guys the silent treatment. To call the last 7 days a whirlwind would be a serious understatement, but I wouldn’t have wished it any other way! San Francisco was a blast, Fit Blog LA was amazing and then we successfully put on a fundraiser for my internship. All of them wrapped into one=the busiest, but most fun week!
My Fit Blog LA recaps will be coming in the next few days (I am hoping to get one up today, but the Sox are playing in a few hours, so I can’t make any promises!), so for now, I just wanted to share a few things with you that I didn’t get to earlier in the week.
1. Two birds one stone
I was stopped in to visit my aunt, uncle and cousins for a few hours after Fit Blog LA, so I could see their shining faces AND avoid that miserable LA rush hour traffic. Lucky me, it just so happened my cousin had a volleyball game that afternoon, so I was able to surprise her there. We have quite a few volleyball players in the fam, which is awesome, and being in the gym made me miss it!
Then we got free hot dogs, which is alway ok in my book
Clearly I never know what to do with my hand during pictures like this
2. Odd combinations have become a staple in my kitchen
On Thursday, I was craving a taco salad (obv) and chicken sausage stir-fry (double obv), so I decided it would be fun to combine the two…..
It was random and delicious and will probably occur again in the near future. Crushed tortilla chips and salsa went on top.
The next “unlikely combo turned new favorite” is Peanut Butter Puffin cereal and coconut almond milk
To be honest, I just really wanted cereal and didn’t have any regular almond milk left, but I have had this snack 3 more times and I’m really diggin it. You should give it a go.
3. New discoveries in the kitchen
Last night I decided to have an apple with peanut butter as my post run snack. Then I decided I really wanted honey, too. All of a sudden I was chopping up the apple, threw it in a bowl, tossed on a tablespoon of peanut butter, drizzled some honey on top, microwaved for 30ish seconds, sprinkled some cinnamon and mixed it all up. I didn’t know what I was doing. It all happened so fast. But the end result was wonderful
It was like apple crisp minus the topping and I may have licked the bowl clean…..
4. Busy weeks make me a slob
I never unpacked after my weekend getaway and basically gave up on
life cleaning until Friday. I ended up avoiding my bedroom as much as possible because it was such a sad sad sight –
Looking at that picture makes me cringe, but after an hour and a half of cleaning yesterday, the whole apartment is sparkly and clean and all is right in the world again.
5. The holiday spirit has arrived!
JUST THIS MINUTE a Christmas song came on while listening to Spotify and now I can’t stop smiling. I usually start listening around mid-October, but this year I’ve been trying to hold out until November 1st. That goal is now completely out the window thanks to this:
My friend Rachael and I have had fights over when it’s acceptable to start listening to Christmas music for the past 5 years, so she was obviously the first person I had to tell
Please excuse my profanity. The excitement got ahold of me. Also, I promise we actually like each other. 5 minutes later she even said she was happy for me.
6. Put on your yarmulke, it’s time for (a) Hanukkah (run)!
On November 24th I will be participating in my first race since the AFC Half in August! My dad, uncle and I will be running in the NYCRUNS Running Festival of Lights, Oy Vey 10k. Just 2.5 jews enjoying the NYC holiday spirit. (I’m the .5 in case you’re wondering)
Hope you’re all having a great weekend so far! Go Sox!
